Our 10-Step Process to achieve deletion of non-conviction data or corrections of inaccurate information, on ACRO/ PNC:

  1. Initial consultation and acceptance as a client. We discuss your case and confirm eligibility for our service. Please note, we only accept cases if we expect to achieve removal from ACRO and can commit to keeping working until this is achieved. Client signs service agreement, provides identification documents, makes payment and signs letter of authority.

The following stages 2 & 3 are done together:

  2. Evidence review & preparation (approx. 2-5 days)
We examine all documents you provide, build your case narrative, and prepare the legal arguments for deletion.

  3. ACRO Subject Access Request (approx. 1 month)
We obtain a current copy of your police record so we can see the exact entries on the Police National Computer (PNC).

  4. ACRO deletion submission (approx. 2-5 days)
Once we have your ACRO report, we prepare and submit your deletion request to ACRO and the relevant police force.

  5. Initial ACRO decision (6–8 weeks) - 60% chance of yes - if no move to stage 6.
Around half of successful cases are accepted at this stage.

The following stages 6 & 7 are now done together to maximise the chance of success and reduce timescales:

  6. Internal police/ACRO appeal (4–8 weeks) additional 10% chance of success - if no move to stage 7.
If the first decision is not successful, we submit an internal appeal to challenge the outcome and correct any errors.
  7. ICO appeal (16–24 weeks) Additional 10% chance of success - if no move to stage 8.
If the internal appeal is refused, we escalate the case to the Information Commissioner’s Office for a full regulatory review.

The following stages 8 & 9 are now done together to maximise the chance of success and reduce timescales:

  8. ICO case review (4–6 weeks) Additional 5% chance of success - if no move to stage 9.
A further examination by senior ICO decision-makers if needed.
  9. PHSO complaint (12–16 weeks) Additional 5% chance of success - if no move to stage 10.
If the ICO process does not resolve the matter, we escalate to the Parliamentary & Health Service Ombudsman.

  10. 90% total chance of success altogether for cases we accept, however if unsuccessful we resubmit the deletion request starting again at Stage 4 with updated circumstances or new evidence and repeat until successful.

In total, timescales can vary between cases and circumstances, depending on the workload of ACRO, the police force involved, and the ICO. We will keep you fully updated throughout and most importantly, we keep working until removal is achieved.
